Opening Books, Opening Minds:
The Early Literacy Initiative at The Children’s Institute

At The Children’s Institute, we believe that every child deserves the chance to discover the joy of reading. Through our Early Literacy Initiative, we are creating welcoming, comforting reading spaces and offering a rich and diverse selection of books across all of our offices and satellite locations.

With your support, we are fostering a love of reading that nurtures the whole child—encouraging curiosity, confidence, and meaningful family connections. These shared moments with books help lay the foundation for lifelong learning, emotional growth, and stronger bonds between children and the adults who care for them.

New Reading Nooks, Ready for Young Readers

Thanks to the generosity of our community, nine cozy reading nooks are now open and ready to welcome families. Across our locations, 200 books—representing a wide range of voices, cultures, and experiences—are stocked on shelves for children and caregivers to explore together.

These inviting spaces transform everyday visits into opportunities for families to slow down, read aloud, and connect. By expanding access to inclusive, developmentally meaningful books, the Early Literacy Initiative is helping children build essential early literacy skills and supporting their cognitive and emotional development.

Your partnership helps ensure that every child who walks through our doors has a place to dream, discover, and grow through the power of stories.
