Eat Your Way Through Kitsap History: Suquamish

About This Event

On this Eat Your Way Through Kitsap History experience, Suquamish Tribal Councilmember Luther Mills and Fisheries Director Rob Purser will guide us through the Tribe’s 150-year fight to uphold treaty rights—culminating in the landmark Boldt decision—and what came after.

Through both lived experience and deep professional knowledge, they’ll explore how the enforcement of treaty rights required more than legal victories. It demanded the development of strong tribal governance, resource management, and law enforcement systems in the face of long-standing discrimination.

Out of that fight came something even more powerful: a renewed commitment to cultural identity, sovereignty, and self-determination. Today, the Suquamish Tribe continues that work through economic development, social and cultural programs, and the careful, ongoing effort to reclaim reservation lands that were unlawfully taken beginning in the late 1800s. This is a story not just of resistance, but of resilience, leadership, and the enduring strength of a community shaping its own future.

Tickets are $45 for Members & $55 for Non-Members. Click the button on the right to join now to become a member and save on your ticket purchase.
