About This Event
Join the Ecology Center for an exclusive, special screening of the Waves of Change Quiz Loop, a powerful 10-minute short film originally created for the Blue Ocean Dome at World Expo 2025 in Osaka.
The Quiz Loop blends striking ocean imagery with thought-provoking questions to explore two of the most urgent challenges facing our planet: ocean plastic pollution and climate change. Designed to spark curiosity and conversation, the film invites viewers to reflect on how these global issues show up in our local waters - and what we can do about them.
Following the screening, we’ll gather for a community discussion focused on:
-
The impacts of plastic pollution and climate change on our oceans
-
Local solutions and stewardship efforts
-
The work being supported at Caspar Cove just north of Mendocino, including community-led action to restore kelp forests and marine ecosystems impacted by climate change.
Come watch, learn, and be part of the conversation shaping a healthier ocean future.
We will be joined by Mary T. Crowley founder and executive director of Ocean Voyages Institute, where she has championed ocean conservation and maritime education since 1979. A pioneer in environmental action, she also co‑founded Project Kaisei and leads Ocean Voyages, Inc., offering global sailing expeditions.
With over 90,000 nautical miles traveled, Mary’s lifelong passion for the sea guides her work on multiple marine and environmental boards. Her dedication to sailing, teaching, and exploration continues to inspire her mission to restore ocean health.
While recycling alone can’t solve the plastics crisis, it remains a crucial bridge toward a more sustainable future, and this thoughful discussion can show you why.
Space is limited—reserve your spot today for this special film screening and thoughtful discussion.
