Presented by Wolf River Conservancy

Frog Chorus Walk 2026

About This Event

There’s nothing quite like a southern swamp after dark!

Hear the songs of spring on our annual Frog Chorus Walk at the Mineral Slough Boardwalk in the Ghost River State Natural Area.

We’ll be listening and looking for calling frogs, especially the Bird-voiced Treefrog and the Green Treefrog, as well as the unique flashing pattern of the Cypress Firefly.

Our meeting spot is the gravel parking lot at the Mineral Slough trailhead

Please bring:

  • flashlight
  • insect repellent
  • water
  • any other needed personal supplies (emergency meds, etc),
  • night photography equipment if interested.

Please wear clothes and shoes appropriate for the weather (closed-toed shoes and long pants are recommended).

This is a very easygoing activity, and you should feel free to leave whenever you like; the group leader will stay as late as 10pm.
