Studio Artists at The Museum of Art- Deland
The Studio Artist Class is a class meant to grow students' abilities technically and conceptually through a focused 6 week session of classes. Students will study elements and principles of art, in-depth techniques, and study a variety of artists to inspire their work. Each 6 week session has its own theme and focus.
$115 for Museum members, $125 for not-yet members.
10 student maximum per session.

Studio Artists
For Ages 6-12
Tuesday Morning Sessions 10:15 AM – 11:30 AM
Wednesday Afternoon Sessions 3:15 pm– 4:30 pm
Session 1: Introduction to Drawing & Painting (9/1-10/7/26)
Young artists will discover the fundamentals of drawing and painting while exploring line, shape, color, texture, and composition through fun, hands-on projects. Inspired by a variety of contemporary artists, students will experiment with graphite, markers, soft pastels, and acrylic paint and more as they build confidence, creativity, and foundational art skills.
Session 2: Foundations of Sculpture & Mixed Media (10/20 - 12/9/26) No Class 11/10, 11/11, 11/24, 11/25
Students will explore the exciting world of three-dimensional art through sculpture, collage, and mixed media projects. Using a variety of materials, they will learn about form, texture, relief, composition, movement, and color while developing creative thinking, problem-solving skills, and artistic confidence in each project. Project themes and techniques will be inspired by contemporary artists.

Teen Studio Artists
For Ages 12 and up
Wednesday Afternoon Sessions 4:45 pm– 6:00 pm
Session 1: Creative Studio: Drawing & Painting (9/2-10/7/26)
Designed for aspiring teen artists, this series strengthens foundational drawing and painting skills while encouraging personal artistic style. Students will explore shape, form, perspective, shading, composition, and color theory through projects inspired by contemporary artists. Working with graphite pencil, pen, markers, soft pastels, and acrylic paint, students will build confidence across multiple mediums while creating a portfolio of original artwork propelling their unique studio practice.
Session 2: Fundamentals of Sculpture & Mixed Media (10/21 - 12/9/26) No Class 11/11, 11/25
Expand your artistic practice through innovative sculpture and mixed media projects. Students will explore composition, movement, texture, relief, printmaking, color theory, and three-dimensional design while experimenting with sculpture, collage, assemblage, and techniques that extend artwork beyond the traditional canvas. Inspired by contemporary artists, students will combine a variety of materials to develop technical skills, creative problem-solving, and a distinctive artistic style.

Cancellations and Refunds:
- No fees will be returned or credits issued for failure to attend.
- There will be no make-up classes due to a student’s illness, unanticipated travel or other reasons not the responsibility of the Museum of Art – DeLand.
- If a class is canceled, students will be notified at least two (2) days prior to the date of class, and tuition will be refunded. The Museum reserves the right to substitute teachers as needed.
- A refund will be issued minus a $25 processing fee for cancellation up to 7 days prior to beginning of the session. No refund will be issued after the 7-day deadline.
Check in/Check Out:
- Students cannot be dropped off more than 10 minutes before the start of class and students are to be picked up promptly after the end of class. Please let the museum staff know if you are running late. A fee of $1 per minute will be assessed for late pick up or early drop off.
- Students can only be signed out by authorized adults with identification each day.
- If any changes need to be made to authorized adults for pick up list, changes must be submitted in writing to Marisa Ingram, ingram@moartdeland.org.
