Teen Arts Academy 2026

About This Event

Youth Create! Teen Arts Academy — Art in Action: Creating for Social Good Hosted at the Museum of Art – DeLand | Summer Saturdays: July 11, 18, 25 & August 8 | 10 AM – 3:30 PM

This summer, teens ages 12–16 are invited to explore the power of art as a force for change! The Youth Create! Teen Arts Academy is an immersive, interdisciplinary arts program held at the Museum of Art – DeLand, designed and facilitated by award-winning Stetson University professor, artist, and social justice educator Dr. Rajni Shankar-Brown.

How can the arts unite individuals from diverse backgrounds and inspire positive change in communities? Teen Arts Academy offers a dynamic, cross-cultural learning experience where youth explore art as a powerful tool for community-building, social change, and wellbeing. Through painting, sculpture, photography, performance, and more, participants discover artistic traditions from around the world, make meaningful historical connections, and explore how creativity can address social and environmental issues, all while building skills in critical thinking, empathy, leadership, and collaboration. We don't just teach art; we teach art as a force for global connection and positive transformation. We inquire. We reflect. And together, we create and grow!

Join one, join all — every Saturday is a complete creative experience. Whether your teen attends one session or all four, they'll leave with new skills, new connections, and the confidence to use their creative voice for good.
