Ivan Battle Endowment

The Music Academy was founded in 1982 by Dr. Ivan Battle in response to the need for a community music school that offered exceptional music education in a structured, well-paced course of study.  In 1995, Music Academy administration and board of directors decided to establish an endowment in Dr. Battle’s name after his death to honor his strong passion for the mission of the school that serves the exceptionally talented as well as students who experience socioeconomic barriers.  The funds are housed at the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, and approximately 5% of the investment yields are awarded each year as scholarships.

Laura Kathryn Holley Memorial Scholarship Fund

Restricted to The Music Academy’s Lessons for Life Outreach Program, the Laura Kathryn Holley fund was established to support one of The Music Academy’s core values of making our lessons and programs available to all. The Lessons for Life Outreach Program provides financial assistance for private music lessons and fully subsidizes high quality performances, instrument demonstrations, and music programs to those with demonstrated financial need, learning differences, or physical limitations. The scholarship fund will be administered by the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro.
