About This Event
Engender: Minding the Marrow
Ten Years Tending to the Core of Our Humanity
As Queer Asterisk celebrates ten years of service, we invite you to join us for Engender: Minding the Marrow, an evening dedicated to honoring the tender, generative center of a queer existence.
For a decade, Queer Asterisk has tended to something essential. Beneath the headlines, challenges, and expectations placed upon us, there is a deeper place where healing, identity, creativity, connection, and belonging take root. Like marrow at the center of a bone, it quietly nourishes what sustains us. It is where resilience is formed, where authenticity emerges, and where transformation begins.
This year, we invite you to reflect on what it means to care for the core of who we are, both individually and collectively. The marrow is often unseen, yet everything depends upon it. It creates, replenishes, and renews. In much the same way, the relationships, care, creativity, and community that sustain queer life often grow beneath the surface, shaping us from the inside out.
Over the past ten years, Queer Asterisk has nurtured that living center through affirming counseling, support groups, community programs, and spaces where queer and trans people can encounter themselves with greater compassion and authenticity. Together, we have witnessed the transformative power of being seen, supported, challenged, and loved.
Engender is both a fundraiser and a community ritual. It is a space where celebration and reflection meet, where art and healing intertwine, and where our collective commitment to one another takes tangible form. The evening will feature moving performances, reflections from staff and community members, a community ceremony, a co-created art installation, and opportunities to support accessible, queer-informed mental health care.
At a time when many forces seek to pull us away from ourselves, Minding the Marrow invites us to return to what is most true and sustaining. It reminds us that queer well-being is not a luxury. It is something worth protecting, cultivating, and celebrating.
As Queer Asterisk's largest annual fundraiser, Engender helps ensure that queer and trans people can access affordable counseling, support groups, educational programs, and spaces for healing regardless of financial circumstance. Every ticket purchased, every donation made, and every person who gathers with us strengthens the networks of care our community depends upon.
Join us as we celebrate ten years of tending to the core of our humanity and help nurture the next decade of queer healing, transformation, and resilience.
Come tend the marrow with us.
