Winter 2026 Workshops:

February Workshop: Tracking Basics
Saturday, February 7, 9 - 11:30 am

$20 / person 
Ages 14+ (minors must be accompanied by a registered adult)

Learn how to identify animal tracks as well as signs like antler rubs, burrows, and scat to find out what animals are active in the area and gain insight into their hidden lives. 

This program will cover basic tracking techniques alongside track and sign identification and tips to help participants continue to build their tracking skills.

March Workshop: Beginning Birding
Saturday, March 21, 8 - 10:30 am

$20 / person 
Ages 14+ (minors must be accompanied by a registered adult)

Get ready for spring migration with this introduction to bird watching and bird identification. Learn the basics of bird identification by sight and sound using a field guide or digital app. This program will also discuss how to choose and use binoculars and how to share your findings with digital citizen science apps like eBird and iNaturalist. 

Bring binoculars! There will also be a limited number of binoculars to borrow. Participants are welcome to bring field guides or load a digital field guide like Sibley or Audubon on their smartphone.

To protect the wildlife, pets are not permitted at the Nature Sanctuary.

REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICY:

  • REFUND POLICY: There are no refunds on programs. If you cannot attend, however, you may transfer your ticket to a friend or colleague by notifying us in advance of the program.
  • CANCELLATION: Programs are rain or shine. We will, however, cancel a program if Williamson County is under a severe weather warning issued by the National Weather Service. Registrants will be notified by email. If a program is cancelled, you will receive a credit (valid for 30 days) toward Day Pass admissions.


FOR EVERYONE's SAFETY:

  • Please DO NOT attend if you are not feeling well or have been exposed to someone with a respiratory illness.
  • Our outdoor portable toilets each have hand sanitizers inside.
  • Please bring a refillable water bottle. We do not have a communal water fountain.
  • Dress for the weather.
  • Please wear closed-toe shoes suitable for hiking.
  • Insect repellant and sunscreen is recommended, depending on the season.

WAIVER AND RELEASE OF ALL CLAIMS

By participating in this program ... I understand that my visit may involve physical activities that have a potential risk of injury. I agree to assume the full risk of any injuries, damages or loss which I may sustain as a result of participating in any and all activities connected with or associated with my visit. I agree to waive and relinquish all claims I may have as a result of participating in this program against Owl’s Hill Nature Sanctuary (OHNS) and their community partners, officials, officers, directors, employees, agents, and volunteers. I fully release and discharge OHNS, their community partners, officials, officers, directors, employees, agents and volunteers from any claim, demand or cause of action for injuries, damage or loss which I may have or which may accrue to me that may be asserted by or on behalf of me as a result of my participating in this program.

I also grant Owl’s Hill Nature Sanctuary the irrevocable right to use photographs and video or audio recordings of me made while participating in this program for training and/or promotional purposes, in any medium, without pay.
