2024 Carroll County Economic Update Luncheon featuring Dr. Michael Pakko

About This Event

Dr. Michael Pakko, chief economist, and state economic forecaster at the Arkansas Economic Development Institute (AEDI) at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock will be the speaker Thursday, September 19, at the Carroll County Economic Update Luncheon to be held in the Community Center in Berryville. The luncheon is sponsored by North Arkansas College Foundation and the Berryville Chamber of Commerce.

Lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m. with the program beginning at Noon. Tickets are available at $15 each and can be purchased online at (insert link) or by contacting Micki Somers at (870) 391-3242.

Attendees should R.S.V.P. by Friday, September 13.  

Before moving to Little Rock in 2009, Dr. Pakko spent 16 years as a research economist and officer at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, where he published research on a variety of topics, including international trade, economic growth, macroeconomics, and public policy.

After drifting into the study of regional economics, Dr. Pakko found himself drawn to Arkansas. For the past 15 years he has taken on the task of providing his analysis of the state’s macroeconomic conditions, along with conducting research to support economic development projects around the state.

In addition to his other research responsibilities at AEDI, hosts an annual Arkansas Economic Forecast Conference, is a regular speaker at professional and business events, and is a frequent media commentator. He has taught economics at various universities over the years, and is presently an adjunct instructor in the UALR School of Business.

Dr. Pakko is also a candidate for State Treasurer in the November 2024 election.
