About This Event

This training program will empower nonprofit leaders to project a positive, professional, and credible image to all audiences, including but not limited to the news media. 

By attending this session, you will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of working with the media and other audiences to maximize your impact and prepare for on-camera interviews. 

This two-hour program is provided in an interactive meeting format and is framed to accomplish the following:

  • Recommend organization media policies and protocols
  • Provide an overview of today’s 24/7 media, as well as the role that web and social media play
  • Increase understanding of news reporters and editors, and how they approach their jobs, including in-person versus virtual interviews
  • Recognize the key attributes of an effective organization spokesperson
  • Learn specific “dos and don’ts” for media interviews
  • Identify key phrases that help spokespersons bridge answers back to the organization’s Key Messages
  • Understand the value of holding statements during a crisis response

Everyone who participates in this Media Training program will receive Strategic Communications’ Top Tips for Working with the Media, a proprietary reference guide to help participants quickly recall their training when it’s time to prepare for future interview opportunities.
