About This Event
Since 2018, 68 people have died inside the Shelby County Jail. Just City is holding a vigil to honor their lives and give their families a voice.
Join us on August 1st at Memphis First United Methodist Church in downtown Memphis, just three blocks from the jail. We will gather starting at 6:30 PM to say their names and hold space for family testimonies, followed by a silent walk to the jail entrance at 8:00 PM for a moment of silence and the laying of roses.
We will be joined by the Mississippi Boulevard Choir. Water and light snacks will be provided outside the sanctuary.
RSVPing simply helps us know how many people to expect. There is no charge and no expectation other than your presence. This is a time to say their names, honor them and their families, and come together to ensure this stops happening to our community.
