Long Memory Project: Farmland Opening Reception

About This Event

Friday, April 24 | 5–8 PM

Join us for the opening reception of Long Memory Project: Farmland, a collaboration between the Crosshatch Center for Art & Ecology and the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University.

The evening will include the exhibition, a panel conversation with participating artists and elders, light refreshments, and a cash bar.

The Long Memory Project is dedicated to preserving and sharing community stories—especially the everyday acts of courage, care, and collaboration that shape our shared history and future. As part of this residency, Michigan-based artists connected with elders who have ties to the state’s farming history, engaged with the exhibition Farmland: Food, Justice, and Sovereignty, and participated in the Northern Michigan Small Farm Conference as part of their research.

Following these experiences, the artists returned to their studios to create new work inspired by what they learned and shared. The exhibition on view represents the culmination of that process.
