Spanning a broad range of mediums, methodologies, and mindsets, the exhibition examines the insights that naturally emerge as artists utilize their practices to work through the experiences that condition who they (we) are. As an ensemble, the works reveal the sites where this shaping occurs, expanding outwardly from the binary relationship between self and other, to the cloistered “safe space,” to the open social arenas where identity is regulated and made to conform.

Featuring works by Diego Gabaldon, Gonzalo Hernandez, Sepideh Kalani, Bex McCharen, Lucía Morales, Genesis Moreno, Ana Mosquera, Nadia Wolff, Ricardo E. Zulueta, Shayla Marshall, Sheherazade Thénard, Pangea Kali Virga, and José Delgado Zuñiga.

Curated by René Morales, Senior Curatorial Fellow, Bakehouse Art Complex.

FROM WITHIN
Teen Residency Exhibition, Weds., July 8 - Sun., October 8, 2026

Presented in the vitrine gallery, From Within highlights the work of Oolite Arts’ Teen Residents and reflects on the personal experiences, memories, and environments that shape each artist’s creative voice.

Developed over the course of the Teen Residency, the exhibition marks a period of experimentation, reflection, and growth. Through drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media practices, the artists consider how identity, emotion, and lived experience inform their work. The resulting exhibition presents a series of deeply personal and exploratory works that speak to the process of discovering and articulating one’s perspective through art.

Featuring works by Ana Blanco, Noa Garcia, Emely Yanji, Melina Walsh, and TJ Wright.
