About This Event

Weds., July 8, 6 - 9pm

In conjunction with Oolite Arts’ Open Studios, visitors are invited to engage with exhibitions developed directly with Oolite’s current career and youth resident artists. Guests will experience works-in-progress and gain insight into the evolving nature of contemporary artistic practice.

SITES OF THE SELF
Curated by Rene Morales

Oolite Arts is pleased to present Sites of the Self, an exhibition bringing together works by Oolite's current cohort of career resident artists to examine the processes by which identity is shaped, negotiated, and contested. Featuring a range of mediums and perspectives, the exhibition explores how artists use their practices to interrogate, work through, and at times resist the social, cultural, and interpersonal forces that condition who we are and who we get to become.

Featuring works by Diego Gabaldon, Gonzalo Hernandez, Sepideh Kalani, Bex McCharen, Lucía Morales, Genesis Moreno, Ana Mosquera, Nadia Wolff, Ricardo E. Zulueta, Shayla Marshall, Sheherazade Thénard, Pangea Kali Virga, and José Delgado Zuñiga.

FROM WITHIN
Youth Residency Exhibition

Presented in the vitrine gallery, From Within highlights the work of Oolite Arts’ Youth Residents and reflects on the personal experiences, memories, and environments that shape each artist’s creative voice.

Developed over the course of the Youth Artist Residency, the exhibition marks a period of experimentation, reflection, and growth. Through drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media practices, the artists consider how identity, emotion, and lived experience inform their work. The resulting exhibition presents a series of deeply personal and exploratory works that speak to the process of discovering and articulating one’s perspective through art.

Featuring works by Ana Blanco, Noa Garcia, Emely Yanji, Melina Walsh, and TJ Wright.
