Join us in celebrating the work of Beatriz Monteavaro and Jillian Mayer! For more than 25 years, these windows have been a canvas for creativity. Now, they showcase the incredible range and energy of local artists turning everyday walks into art experiences.
Beatriz Monteavaro, Marseille Drive
Walgreens Windows @ 74th and Collins Ave., Miami Beach
Beatriz Monteavaro’s work is informed by childhood memories of growing up in a Cuban household in Miami Beach, where family, fantasy, music, and popular culture shaped her imagination. For the Walgreens Windows at 67th and Collins, she returns to her family’s first years in the United States, when North Beach became their first home after leaving Cuba.
According to the artist, “I was very young and my memories of this time are fragmented and dream-like. With the help of family photos as reference, the paintings and sculptures I’m presenting represent mine, my family’s early years in the United States - our time on North Beach, birthdays, get-togethers, and regular days, through the lens of preschool me.”
In this work, Monteavaro’s heroes shift from fantasy figures and rock stars to the people closest to her: her family. The installation is a tender reflection on migration, refuge, memory, and the making of a new home. “I am grateful we were given refuge. I am grateful we were given a chance to live and thrive”

About the Artist
Beatriz Monteavaro (b. 1971) in Havana, Cuba and lives and works in Miami, Florida. Monteavaro received a BFA from Tyler School of Art, Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (1996). Her multidisciplinary practice encompasses painting, sculpture, drawing, and music, drawing on personal and cultural memory, Cuban-American identity, popular culture, migration, the natural world, and science. In addition to her visual practice, Monteavaro is a drummer and member of the Miami-based punk/metal band Holly Hunt, with music and rhythm informing her approach to making and thinking.
Selected solo exhibitions include “Tonight, We Can Be As One Tonight” (2026), Under the Bridge, North Miami, Florida; “Beatriz Monteavaro: Vacation” (2020), Bob Rauschenberg Gallery at FSW, Fort Myers, Florida; and “Nochebuena” (2015), Locust Projects, Miami, Florida. Selected group exhibitions include “Draw: The Community of Those Who Have Nothing in Common” (2026), Passerelle Centre d’Art Contemporain, Brest, France; “South Florida Cultural Consortium” (2023), Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami, North Miami, Florida; and “A Very Anxious Feeling: Voices of Unrest in the American Experience” (2020), Taubman Museum of Art, Roanoke, Virginia. Monteavaro received the Black Mountain College Active Archive Residency (2025) and the South Florida Cultural Consortium Award (2022).
Jillian Mayer, Mayer Objects

MAYER OBJECTS is a limited-edition design line by artist and designer Jillian Mayer. Produced in small runs and studio-crafted from ceramics, glass, and metal, the collection translates Mayer’s sculptural practice into functional, collectible objects designed for everyday spaces.
Mayer’s large-scale sculptures, public artworks, and films have been exhibited at museums and festivals worldwide. In parallel with this work, she has spent years in the studio experimenting with ceramics, glass, and metal, developing forms through repeated prototyping, material testing, and hands-on fabrication.
MAYER OBJECTS emerged as an extension of this process: a collection of limited-edition objects that sit between sculpture and design. Each piece is produced in small runs, shaped by craft, and informed by Mayer’s sculptural language, prioritizing form, material presence, and longevity over trend. Slight variations in finish, surface, or form are inherent to the process and reflect the hand-made nature of each piece. These nuances are considered part of the work, reinforcing its status as a collectible object rather than a mass-produced product.
The project is driven by the idea that well-considered objects can be both collectible and approachable, designed to inhabit everyday spaces while retaining the rigor and intention of fine art.
About the Artist
Jillian Mayer lives and works in Miami, Florida. Mayer is an artist and filmmaker working across video, sculpture, online experiences, photography, performance, and installation. Her practice examines how technology reshapes our lives, bodies, and identities, focusing on the increasingly porous boundary between physical and digital experience and on ways of subverting capital-driven models of technological innovation.
Selected solo exhibitions include “Jillian Mayer” (2019), Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Omaha, Nebraska; “Jillian Mayer” (2018), Postmasters Gallery, New York, New York; and “Jillian Mayer” (2016), Pérez Art Museum Miami, Miami, Florida. Selected group exhibitions, screenings, and performances include presentations at MoMA PS1, New York, New York (2017); the Montréal Biennial at Musée d’Art Contemporain de Montréal, Montréal, Québec (2014); and The Museum of Modern Art, New York, New York (2013).
Mayer received the Creative Capital Fellowship, the South Florida Cultural Consortium Visual and Media Artists Fellowship, and the Cintas Foundation Fellowship for Cuban Artists, and was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film.” She is also a fellow of the Sundance Institute’s New Frontier Lab and New Narratives on Climate Change Lab.
