Mackenzie, now 22 years old, has been under our care since she was a second grader at The Day School. As a nonverbal woman with autism and Pompe disease, a rare genetic condition that weakens her skeletal muscles, her care is complex.

But The Children’s Institute is up to the challenge. We keep Mackenzie strong with outpatient therapies, and we take good care of her family by giving them tools to cope and support her treatment.
