About This Event

How What We Think & Dream About Determines Who We Become
Presentation and seminar led by Sister Jane Dominic Laurel, O.P., S.T.D.

What does it mean to be human?  This is the question that the greatest philosophers, theologians, artists, and authors have sought to answer.  At the root of the word “culture” is “cultus”—what we worship, what we reverence, what we value, what we hold dear.  In literature we find the intersection between human culture and human life, between the ideal and real.  What lies in the space in between is the imagination and its capacity to shape how we think, what we dream about, how we act, and so who we become. Thus, the artist’s and the author’s moral vision is paramount in shaping a genuinely human society.
