About the Foothills Naturalist Program:

The Foothills Naturalist Program provides adult participants with both ecological knowledge and a sense of community through outdoor experiential education opportunities on lands permanently protected by FCNC. 

About this Event:

In our Guided Nature Hike, join fellow curious community members to hike one of the most beautiful WNC hikes within our service area: Catawba Falls*. Learn how Foothills Conservancy helped preserve the land that made this area more accessible to the public.

Highlights include:

• Exploring a beautiful nature trail with stops for inquiry and exploration
• Watch our forests transition to winter
• Connecting with fellow community members in our shared love of our wild spaces!

What to Bring:

• Comfortable hiking shoes
• Clothing layers for variable temperatures
• Water
• lunch and/or snacks
• Sun protection

*This experience involves hiking the ~3.5 mile loop. This is a rigorous hike that includes nearly 600 steps up the stairs to get to the upper falls! We will take breaks and rest at the upper falls before completing the loop.

This event is free but registration is required and spots are limited!

Participants must fill our the Liability Waiver and Photo release here before the start of your program.
