Pine Needle Soda with Dana Galloway

Saturday, April 25 | 9AM to 1PM

Dana Galloway will lead a workshop on foraging and cooking with wild onion, juniper, and pine needles. 

Meet at the Sierra Valley Preserve Nature Center, travel to Ross Meadow for foraging, then return to the Nature Center for cooking (and eating!). 

Bring good shoes, ready to walk on uneven ground, hand clippers, and a trowel, also a paper or canvas bag. Bring a mortar and pestle if you have it!

Children allowed with paying adult. 

Meet the Instructor:

Dana Galloway is a Mountain Maidu Traditional Ecology Practitioner and Educator and the Head Chair of the Yamani Maidu Cultural Association. She brings generations of Indigenous wisdom to her work to educate people about the native flora of the region, their Maidu names, and cultural, nutritional, and medicinal uses. Dana played a lead role in advising and creating Maidu content for the exhibits and interpretive signs at the Sierra Valley Preserve + Nature Center.
