Kid-Friendly Fire Cider with Dana Galloway

Saturday, October 3 | 10am to 1pm

Join us for a fun, hands-on class where we'll make a colorful, kid-friendly version of traditional Fire Cider! Inspired by herbalist Juliet Blankenspoor's Hibiscus-Pomegranate-Orange Fire Cider, participants will learn about herbs, roots, fruits, and apple cider vinegar while helping prepare a naturally sweet and tangy herbal tonic.

This class is a wonderful way for children and families to explore plants, traditional food preparation, and the joy of making something healthy together. 

Kids of all ages welcome and must be accompanied by a participating adult.

This workshop is offered for free thanks to the Arts in CA Parks grant program.

About the Instructor:

Dana Galloway is a Mountain Maidu Traditional Ecology Practitioner and Educator and the Head Chair of the Yamani Maidu Cultural Association. She brings generations of Indigenous wisdom to her work to educate people about the native flora of the region, their Maidu names, and cultural, nutritional, and medicinal uses. Dana played a lead role in advising and creating Maidu content for the exhibits and interpretive signs at the Sierra Valley Preserve + Nature Center.
