What is the Youth Wellness Retreat?
Welcome to the FIRST-EVER First Responders Youth Wellness Retreat presented by the Erik Hite Foundation! This is a FREE wellness retreat for teens of first responders to explore contemporary issues our teens face by sharing tools in a safe and fun environment. Throughout the day, teenagers aged 12-19, will venture into a variety of engaging activities, including breakout sessions, demonstrations, and wellness exercises, all designed to be fun, exciting, and enlightening.
DISCLAIMER: We extend a warm invitation to parents to join us for both the opening and closing ceremonies of this special event. While our primary focus is on youth wellness, we understand that parents may wish to remain onsite to supervise their child(ren), although it's not required.
Please register your child(ren) by Wednesday, July 31st!

Katie Wood - Closing Keynote Speaker
Katie Wood is the busy mom of four young children, a business owner, and the proud wife of a hard-working fireman. As a former teacher, Katie understands how important it is for kids to have a growth mindset and learn the essential life skills that will empower them to live a purposeful life filled with courage, gratitude, forgiveness, and compassion. She is the author of the award-winning book, "A Simple Seed: of Growth, Gratitude and Giggles" which has been featured on The Today Show and NBC. Katie is a highly sought after motivational speaker sharing her empowering message of hope and resilience all around the country.
Robert Roman - Money Matters
Robert Roman, originally from Niagara Falls, NY, has had a distinguished career marked by service and dedication. After serving in the Air Force, where he honed his skills in discipline and leadership, Robert transitioned to the financial industry. He now resides in Tucson AZ where he works as a Financial Advisor with Transamerica Financial Advisors With over 24 years of experience in the financial industry, Robert has built a reputation for his expertise and commitment to helping clients achieve their financial goals. He holds a Series 6, 26, 63 & 65 Securities Registrations, qualifying him as both a Securities agent and an Investment Advisor Representative. His journey from military service to financial advisory showcases his adaptability and dedication to serving others in various capacities. Outside of his professional life, Robert is known for his community involvement and passion for financial education. He is also an avid traveler, having visited 12 counties so far, and a dedicated fan of the Dave Matthews Band, having attended their concerts 40 times over the past 20 years. He helps raise his niece & nephew and is a proud Dog dad to Luna, a beautiful poodle mix rescue who’s his best friend.
Kelli Trueba - What's a Good Relationship?
Kelli Trueba is a LEO wife, mom of two kiddos and a Licensed Professional Counselor with over twenty years of experience. In her local practice, Teal Path Counseling, she specializes in working with First Responders and their families and has a passion for pouring into the community as a volleyball coach at the local YMCA.

Hello! My name is Kat de los Santos and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona and Texas. I am the owner of Desert Roots Counseling located in Vail. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and my master’s degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy. I specialize in working with children and teens ages 2+, especially those who have experienced trauma and adversity. I am currently working towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist. Supporting first responder and military families is something I am passionate about since those communities are close to my heart. My father is retired Tucson Fire and my husband is retired Air Force law enforcement. I was raised in the Tucson area but as a military family we have been able to live in places such as Montana, South Dakota, and Texas. We have two amazing almost 13-year-old twin boys and we enjoy seeing movies and playing sports. As a play therapist I love playing games, doing creative activities, and building things! Stephanie Boreale - Breakfast Session
Stephanie Boreale joined Watermark Retirement Communities as the National Director of Health Strategy in August 2019. Stephanie’s role includes overseeing health services, wellbeing and resident engagement. She is focused on building solid clinical operations and innovative strategies for addressing whole person wellness and developing cutting edge programming, such as 360Well, an interdisciplinary approach to wellbeing. She is also the owner of Dream Dinners, a Tucson based meal-prep company focused bringing busy families together around the dinner table for delicious and healthy meals and Veratina Kitchens, a new concept committed on delivering nourishing ready-to-eat lunches for children. Stephanie has over 20 years of leadership experience in healthcare operations. Her extensive experience in healthcare related operations includes leadership positions at health systems responsible for ambulatory services, service line management, brand strategy and physician relations. Stephanie additionally managed professional relations for a large physician practice focusing on business development, physician engagement and customer experience. Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame as well as certifications from FEMA, University of Arizona, UCLA and is a certified health and life coach. She currently sits on the Board of Trustees for St. Michael’s School and is a board member for the Notre Dame Club of Tucson. She has previously been a board member for Casa de los Ninos, Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance, Tucson Marketing Association, Eller College of Management Advisory Board, American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women and American Cancer Society, Arizona Chapter.
Dr. Suzanne Gorovoy - Good Nights = Good Days
Dr. Suzanne Gorovoy is a clinical psychologist, behavioral sleep medicine specialist, and member of the Sleep and Health Research Program at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. She received her graduate degree in School Psychology from Teachers College at Columbia University, her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Case Western Reserve University, and a postdoctoral fellowship in Behavioral Sleep Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Her research focuses on innovating behavioral and cognitive strategies for sleep disorders including insomnia and sleep apnea and applying sleep and circadian scientific approaches to medical and psychological problems across all ages. Dr. Gorovoy is a member of the Sleep Research Society and the Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine. She has been featured as a sleep expert in several national media outlets and she consults with health and technology companies on optimizing sleep-based education and treatment programs.
Jenna Aldulaimi -Building Self Awareness
Jenna Layla Aldulaimi is an Applied Policy Researcher with the Tucson Police Department, where she plays a pivotal role in advancing evidence-based policing. She reviews literature and conducts research to inform policy, developing and implementing strategies from peer-reviewed literature. Jenna's work includes conducting comprehensive surveys, focus groups, and advanced data analyses using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods. She develops research studies, encompassing literature reviews, problem identification, methodological design, and evaluation. Jenna holds a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in sociology, a master's degree in family and human development with a child life specialty, a master's degree in psychology, and a Ph.D. in psychology with an emphasis in cognition and instruction.
Frank Nichols - How the Parental Role Changes
Frank Nichols has been in ministry for nearly 25 years, primarily serving students and families. With ministry stops in Oklahoma and Texas, he and his family relocated to Arizona two years ago to serve at Pantano Christian Church in Tucson, where he is currently serving as the This Gen pastor. Frank is the oldest of 15 adopted siblings, has been married to his wife Kara for almost 22 years, and they have a 12 year old son named Isaiah. He loves basketball and all things Texas Tech but his true heart and passion is helping every person he encounters unlock their unique God-given potential.
