About This Course

BAWT's Frontcountry Leadership Training (FLT)

The FLT is BAWT's entry-level course that covers all the basic skills you will need to successfully take youth on car-camping based overnight trips.

Skills covered include camping safety, day hiking, tent and stove set-up, clothing requirements, nutrition, team building activities, and more. Check out our FLT webpage to learn more about the course.

The course itself is an two-day, one night overnight Saturday-Sunday camping trip in the North Bay, plus a mandatory pre-trip meeting at our Oakland warehouse on a weekday evening before the course. Food from Saturday breakfast through Sunday lunch is included, as well as any gear you may borrow from BAWT for the training.

No previous experience is necessary. We welcome whatever experience you bring, from those who have never slept in a tent before to those who have spent extensive time camping outdoors. We're looking forward to going outside with you!
