About This Course
BAWT's Snowshoe Leadership Training (SLT)
The SLT is BAWT's entry-level course that covers all the basic skills you will need to successfully take youth on snowshoe day trips.
Skills covered include use of snowshoes, risk management, clothing requirements, nutrition, team building activities, and more. All learning is experiential. Any gear you may borrow from BAWT for the training is included. BAWT will provide snacks; participants bring own lunch to eat on the trail. Check out our SLT webpage to learn more about the course.
The course begins in the mountains at 9:30am and ends at 3:30pm, with optional time to stay and play in the snow in the late afternoon. The drive is approximately 3 hours from Oakland, with opportunities for participants to carpool together.
The course itself is a one-day experience in the Sierra Nevada mountains near Donner Pass, plus a mandatory pre-trip meeting on a weekday evening before the course. Please see below for all the dates for your training:

- Location: Trailhead near Donner Pass
