Giving Through Your Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a simple, flexible, and tax-efficient way to support Food Rescue US. With a few clicks, you can recommend a grant from your DAF to help us keep food out of landfills and onto plates. Here’s how to give:

  1. Log in to your donor-advised fund account (Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, Vanguard Charitable, or another provider).
  2. Search for Food Rescue US in your provider’s nonprofit directory.
    • If you don’t see us listed, you can enter our EIN: 27-4486556
    • Note: You may see us listed under our former name "Community Plates"
  3. Recommend a grant in the amount you’d like to give. If you'd like to donate to one of our local sites, specify your chosen location in the memo section. Checks with blank memos will go to Food Rescue US National.
  4. Notify us at development@foodrescue.us so we can thank you promptly and ensure your gift is put to work right away.

Helpful details:

  • Legal name: Food Rescue US
  • EIN: 27-4486556
  • Mailing address: 1127 High Ridge Road, Suite 338, Stamford, CT 06905

Your DAF gift will help us rescue food, reduce waste, and feed communities in need—all while reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions from landfilled food

Food Rescue US is a tax-exempt organization as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Tax ID: 27-4486556. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Food Rescue US provides essential operational support that allows site programs to run efficiently and effectively. 15% of all donations to Food Rescue US’ sites will be allocated to Food Rescue US to support the centralized operations, technology, compliance, and fundraising support.

For volunteer-led sites, the first $2,000 raised annually supports local needs directly. Funds raised beyond that are used to strengthen under-resourced or emerging sites across the country through our  national operations. Your gift fuels both local impact and broader network growth.
