March Animal Tracking Walk

About This Event

Join friends of RLHT, Becca and Dave, owners of Northern Songlines, for a guided winter animal tracking walk. Whether you’re brand new to tracking or have experience, this welcoming, curiosity-led outing invites participants to read the stories of the woods together. Learn how to spot and ID animal tracks, wildlife signs, and winter behaviors while exploring RLHT's conserved land. 

  • Where: South Bog Conservation Area
  • When: Saturday, March 21
  • Time: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Cost: Free; advance registration required. Max 14 people. Ages 8 and up are welcome, but youth must be accompanied by an adult.

What To Expect

  • A slow-paced, collaborative approach
  • Learning directly from tracks, sign, behavior, and ecology
  • Support for beginners and depth for experienced trackers

What To Bring/Wear

  • Snowshoes. Need to rent a pair? Contact our friends at Rangeley Adventure Co.
  • Warm layers, hat, gloves, winter boots, hand warmers—we could be stopped in an area for 30 minutes or more looking at tracks
  • Wind protection
  • Optional: hand lens, notebook, binoculars
