Autumn Photography River Trail Bike Ride

About This Event

When: Saturday, October 12th, 2024 from 1pm-3pm

Where: Strip District Segment of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail (Trailhead at 24th St and Riverfront) Strip District Trailhead

Meet up time and location: Please plan to meet 15 minutes before the ride begins at 12:45pm at the POGOH station located at: Burns White Center at 3 Crossings. Google maps directions to meet up location: Strip District POGOH station Parking garages and free and paid street parking are available in the area.

Type of Ride: Out and back. The entire ride will be on the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, free from motor vehicle traffic. The distance out on the Trail will be determined by participants pace and interest. The turn around point will most likely be Point State Park and the return will be to the starting point at the POGOH Bike Station.

What: Join us as we ride in a group along the Strip district segment of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, stopping along the way to partake in autumn photography. Special guest and local professional photographer Carolyn Doyle will be joining us to informally share tips and tricks to picking scenic locations, framing the shot, and capturing the world around you with a camera. 

What to bring: Bicycle or e-bike (A limited amount of free POGOH bike rentals will be available first come first serve), bicycle helmet, your choice of: phone camera, digital camera, film camera, and/or other experimental cameras are welcome. Water, snacks, and a small bag of tools, pump, and spare tube are always helpful, however trip leaders and marshals will have tools on hand and bike shops are located nearby as needed.

Support: Thanks to BikePGH, POGOH, Bike People, and Friends of the Riverfront Trail Ambassadors- you will have the support of bike marshals to help with any needed repairs or emergency stops. This is a no-drop, casual paced, easy ride with stops entirely on designated Trail with some potential crossings of bridges with sight elevation changes.

Join Friends of the Riverfront, POGOH, BikePGH, and 3ROC for this end of season celebratory bike ride marking another successful year of meaningful work in the community: bicycle and trail advocacy, infastructure development, arts and educational programming, and growth in the range of opportunties to enjoy non-motorized recreation and commuting. 

Special thanks to our featured trip host: Carolyn Doyle https://www.carolyndoylephotography.com - a local professional photographer who will join us for tips, tricks, and guidance on getting a great shot and boosting your photography skills! In this a collaborative style skill share, all are welcome to join in and share their knowledge and expertise as we bike and stop at different points along the route.

Afterwards, you are welcome to join us for an informal gathering at Aslin Brewery in the Strip District for food and drinks. Aslin has something for everyone, coffee, sodas, beers, non-alcoholic beers, and a large menu.
