Dear Friends of the Animals,
So Long Fruit Cake, Hello King Cake!
The Galveston Island Humane Society is excited to invite you to be part of a one-of-a-kind Mardi Gras celebration! Our upcoming Krewe of Barkus & Meoux Parade and Cat's Eye View Balcony Party will be held on Sunday, February 15th! This fun event brings together our community to celebrate and raise awareness of our mission to provide shelter and care for the many homeless animals that find their way to us each day.
The parade will feature costumed animal guests ranging from dogs and cats, to horses, bunnies, ferrets, lizards, and more! And yes, there will be beads and many happy family revelers. Every wag, purr, and happy hop will help remind our community that animals deserve love, safety, and to celebrate too.
The Balcony Party will feature A Cat's Eye View of all three parades that afternoon. Additional highlights include; two drink tickets, cash bar, delicious bites provided by Maceo's, beads, a raffle, and DJ music for people of all ages.
Both events serve to raise critical funds to support animal care, enrichment, and advocacy. The success of these projects depends on the support of individuals and businesses who generously contribute. Your generous contribution -- whether large or small - will make a meaningful difference and directly support the well-being of animals in our care.
Donors will be proudly recognized as supporters of this festive cause, and most importantly, you will know that your generosity helped create a day of joy for animals and their hoomans, and provide support for the many services we provide to our "temporary tenants" while at the shelter.

NOTES: The sponsorship entry tickets may be used to either the parade or the balcony party. Your shirts will be delivered to that event.
**No pets are allowed at the Balcony Party or in the Trolley Station Building.
*Children 5 and under may enter the balcony party for free.
Parade Note: Remember, animals must be current on ALL vaccinations. A current rabies certificate must be presented upon request for all pets (not just tags). Vaccine records can be emailed to info@galvestonhumane.org or presented in person at time of check-in, though we suggest emailing as this hastens the check in process. Those walking must be on leash, no longer than 6 feet. No retractable leashes--no exceptions. Control must be maintained at all times.
Beads: Beads will not be provided for the parade and are not required. If you choose to throw beads, remember this is a long parade. Plan a way to carry and distribute beads that will be safe for your pets. No candy may be thrown; candy may be dangerous to pets if swallowed! **Bags of beads will be available for purchase at the balcony party.
LOGO: Please be sure to list how you would like your sponsorship to be listed. Email logo file to info@galvestonhumane.org by January 25th, 2026. (If we do not receive the logo file, we will use your name as listed)
