Our Honorees
This year we are thrilled to honor three neighborhood stewards for their work to build a more resilient, accessible and biodiverse Gowanus waterfront:
-
Monadnock Development, to celebrate their longstanding commitment to the Gowanus neighborhood and the opening of the first waterfront esplanade designed in partnership with the community.
-
Marcos Diaz Gonzalez, to celebrate his service as GCC Board Chair from 2021 - 2023, guiding the organization through critical advocacy for waterfront public space in the Gowanus Rezoning.
-
Natasia Sidarta, to celebrate 11 years of work at GCC, engaging volunteers in hands-on stewardship along the Gowanus waterfront and throughout the neighborhood.
Our Work & The Neighborhood
Since 2006, Gowanus Canal Conservancy has been the lead environmental steward of the Gowanus Canal and surrounding neighborhood.
The Gowanus Canal is a historic waterway that holds immense ecological and cultural significance. Environmental challenges from the past and present, however, threaten its health and ecological biodiversity. As advocates for waterfront stewardship, Gowanus Canal Conservancy is committed to honoring, protecting, and revitalizing this vital resource to ensure that the Canal is a healthy, accessible and biodiverse anchor for the Gowanus neighborhood.
You can play a crucial role in advancing our mission to restore and care for the Gowanus Canal by joining us on May 2nd. Your support will fund essential projects that improve water quality, enhance biodiversity, and create green spaces for the community to enjoy.
