Gowanus Blooms, a Spring Benefit 2025

Registration has ended

Join us at Finback Brooklyn on May 8th to toast to nearly two decades of Gowanus Canal Conservancy’s work and to honor key environmental stewards who have led and embraced our shared vision for a thriving, resilient and biodiverse Gowanus.

At this year's Gowanus Blooms, critically acclaimed stand-up comedian and actor Jordan Carlos will join us as emcee. Gather with your neighbors and friends to enjoy Finback's renowned craft beers and spirits, dine on an array of Chinese American fusion dishes, and let loose on the dance floor with DJ Natural State after we raise a glass to our honorees.

Our Work & The Neighborhood

Since 2006, Gowanus Canal Conservancy has been the lead environmental steward of the Gowanus Canal and surrounding neighborhood.

The Gowanus Canal is a historic waterway that holds immense ecological and cultural significance. Environmental challenges from the past and present, however, threaten its health and ecological biodiversity. As advocates for waterfront stewardship, Gowanus Canal Conservancy is committed to honoring, protecting, and revitalizing this vital resource to ensure that the Canal is a healthy, accessible and biodiverse anchor for the Gowanus neighborhood.

You can play a crucial role in advancing our mission to restore and care for the Gowanus Canal by joining us on May 8th. Your support will fund essential projects that improve water quality, enhance biodiversity, and create green spaces for the community to enjoy.

Our Honorees

This year we are thrilled to honor:

Rohit T. "Rit" Aggarwala, New York City DEP Commissioner & Chief Climate Officer for NYC, to recognize his agency's commitment to cleaning and restoring the Canal and focus on adapting our neighborhood infrastructure to climate change.

The Domain Companies, to recognize the opening of their new waterfront esplanade at 420 Carroll — a welcoming, expansive public space that stands out for its contributions to biodiversity and ecosystem restoration.

Christine Petro, GCC Founding Education Director, to recognize her 10 years of service to students and teachers throughout the watershed and her dedication to public education and youth empowerment.
