GREATER THINGS
Written By Andy Reynolds
Directed by Liam Castellan
In the midst of a blinding snowstorm, Otto appears unexpectedly on the
doorstep of his oldest friend (and former boyfriend) Marsh, who has relocated to
northern Vermont with his husband to escape a complicated life in New York City, where
Marsh and Otto spent the early nineties on the periphery of the downtown "club kid"
scene. Over the course of one night, Otto and Marsh reconnect to examine the past
decisions that led them to their present circumstances. Is it too late for them to find
greater things for their future?
Andy Reynolds (Playwright) has been a member of Berkshire Voices since its inception. His plays include The Sixth or The Eighth (2024 Honegger Prize), Doctor Smarty in the New Normal (Evolution Theatre, Nutley Little Theater, Umbrella Theater), The Memory of Mollusks (O'Neill Center National Playwrights Conference finalist), Dark Hole (O’Neill semi-finalist), and Eucatastrophe (Kaplan Prize). Three plays have received prior readings from Berkshire Voices/Great Barrington Public Theater: In Between Without You, The Last Days of the Contract Player, and There Are No Words. His 10-minute play A Departure has been produced by theaters across the country and was recorded for the podcast Playing on Air directed by Michael Wilson and starring Len Cariou and Michael Urie.
Liam Castellan (Director) co-moderates Berkshire Voices with Leigh Curran. He’s directed several BV Skills Lab workshops, and co-directed GBPT’s 10-Minute Play Festival last April with Joshua Briggs, which included Liam's script Dating in the Workplace and Other Acts of Courage. Directing: Cardinal Stage, Stages Bloomington, Jewish Theatre of Bloomington, Hedgerow Theatre, Curio Theatre Company and others. Cardinal Stage (now Constellation Stage & Screen) commissioned his site-specific audio drama Predisposed to Violins: a Sherlock Holmes Adventure in 2021. MFA (Directing) from Indiana U. Bloomington, B.Sci. (Theatre) from Northwestern. He lives in Pittsfield with his wife and two snuggly beagles and is the Development Operations and Database Manager for Shakespeare & Company.
