FULL TRANSPARENCY
Written By Max Rissman, Directed by Matthew Penn
In "Full Transparency," Max Rissman explores the consequences of a world where it is both possible and socially normalized for people to have unfiltered access to each other's inner thoughts. As we follow an interconnected web of characters, we see how this technology profoundly affects various relationships across society. The play grapples with the complex ethical and social implications of such unprecedented transparency, inviting the audience to reflect on the potential upsides and downsides of being able to read one another's minds.
Max Rissman (Playwright) Ever since Max was four years old, when he forced his parents to watch and act out "The Wizard of Oz" with him every night, he has been captivated by the power of stories to transform the mundane into the magical. After completing his MFA in filmmaking at NYU, he wrote and directed his first feature film "Upon Waking," which is scheduled to be released on streaming platforms Valentine's Day 2025. He currently resides in West Hartford, CT, where he writes plays and screenplays and looks after his newborn son.
Matthew Penn (Director) is an Emmy nominated director who has directed and/or produced over 200 hour-long dramatic television dramas including iconic series such as “Law and Order”, “The Sopranos” and “NYPD Blue”. He began his television career at Law and Order where he earned an Emmy nomination for directing the show’s 200th episode starring Julia Roberts. In the Berkshires Penn has directed at many of the region’s most significant theatres: Shakespeare & Co: The Beauty Queen of Leenane, Vanya and Sonya and Masha and Spike. BTG: The Actors Nightmare, and Sister Mary Ignatius at Barrington Stage: Judgment Day, Typhoid Mary, and eight 10x10 Festivals. Penn most recently directed the film “The Sweet Taste of Freedom.” Penn directed Jane Anderson’s Mother of the Maid at New York’s Public Theater starring Glenn Close. Penn was a Co-Artistic director of Berkshire Playwrights Lab for 13 seasons.
