About This Event
If you enjoy soaking in the scenery, savoring every step, stopping to take pictures, and admiring the smallest details along the trail, join our Slow Hikers Club! PLC’s Slow Hikers Club is led by Brianna, PLC’s Communications Director and naturalist in training, who is on a never-ending journey to discover and share the natural world.
This outing of the Slow Hikers Club we'll explore the Basin Creek and Homestead Loop Trails at Shallow Ford Natural Area near Elon, a total of 2.2 miles. This natural area is 120 acres of woods, and one big field, cut up by little creeks and along a section of the Haw River. We will walk approximately 2.2 miles in 2.5 hours, stopping frequently to enjoy the scenery, chat, and see what nature has to offer.
The trail is entirely under tree cover, and includes views of a beautiful creek and forest. The trail is entirely natural surface and has roots and rocks throughout. There are a few bridges to cross with a couple stairs up. The trail is mostly flat with a few gradual inclines and declines.
We’ll take our time and learn about plants and creatures along the trail. No rush, no pressure. Just good company and a great hike.
Space is limited to 20 participants.
