About This Event
Step inside the world of creativity and curiosity at the Center for Great Apes as we explore one of the most engaging parts of sanctuary life, enrichment!
During this Ape-ology: In the Field session, you’ll discover how our staff keeps minds active and hands busy through a variety of stimulating activities designed to encourage natural behaviors, problem-solving, and play. From puzzle feeders and foraging challenges to sensory surprises and seasonal treats, enrichment brings daily joy and purpose to the orangutans and chimpanzees who call the sanctuary home.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
Watch caregivers prepare and deliver enrichment items for both orangutans and chimpanzees
Learn how different types of enrichment, cognitive, sensory, physical, social, and nutritional, benefit the apes’ overall well-being
Hear directly from caregivers about how they design enrichment based on each individual’s personality, preferences, and abilities
This session shines a light on the imagination and care that go into making every day at the sanctuary engaging and meaningful for the apes.
Don’t miss this exclusive chance to see how curiosity, creativity, and compassion come together to enrich the lives of our remarkable residents.
Minimum Age: 15 years
Limited to 20 participants
