About This Event
Join us on October 3, 2026, from 8:30–10:30 a.m. for a morning of birding along the Old Bynum Walking Bridge! Learn about the natural history of resident and migratory birds that frequent the Haw River while sharpening your skills to identify our feathered neighbors by sight and sound during the height of fall migration.
Rain Date: Saturday, October 10, 8:30–10:30 a.m.

All proceeds from this event support Haw River Assembly and our efforts to protect the Haw River watershed.
What to Bring
- Binoculars
- Water bottle
- Bug spray and sunscreen
- Notebook and pencil
- Your cellphone, if preferred! We recommend the Merlin Bird ID app for identification and eBird for tracking your sightings.
- What to Wear
- Comfortable, closed-toe shoes
- Dull or neutral-colored clothing
- Hat
- Layered clothing
- Rain gear, just in case
Parking & Meeting Location
Parking is available in the NC State Parks parking lot across from Bynum Community Center at 160 Charlie Fields Rd., Pittsboro, NC 27312.
From the parking lot, meet our birding leader at the walking bridge near the community center.
Participant Information
Participants must be 11 years of age or older. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Please bring any snacks, water, and personal care items you may need during the event. A Haw River Assembly waiver must be signed prior to participation.
