2026_06_18 Maternal & Environmental Health Training

About This Event

New! Join this six-part training to learn how the environment impacts pregnancy and gain tools, strategies, and resources for supporting maternal health. Designed for Community Health Workers, the training is also open to doulas, home visiting professionals, caseworkers, or community advocates. Training topics include: Air Pollution and Pregnancy Outcomes, Pregnancy in Heat Stress and Climate Change, Environmental Disasters and Displacement, Chemical Exposure and Pregnancy, and Healthy Environments for Healthy Pregnancies.

The training includes an in-person opening session (June 18th ) and an in-person closing session (July 16th), as indicated in the schedule below. Lunch will be provided at both sessions. Participants will complete five virtual modules during the month between sessions using the Illinois Public Health Association's online learning platform. Participants must have access to a computer and internet to complete the virtual modules. 

 

SCHEDULE:

June 18, 10:30 am - 1:30pm: Opening session with Dr. Regina Gomez and lunch at Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods

June 19-July 15: Complete virtual modules on your own time

July 16, 10:30 am - 1:30pm: Closing celebration, certificate presentation, and lunch, Location TBD
