About This Event
Though Spanish-style mosaics and red-tile roofs are now synonymous with Southern California's image, their popularity did not erupt until the 1910s and 1920s. Join us at the Hermosa Beach Museum Saturday, September 24, 6-8pm, to learn how Spanish Revival imagery gained a timeless feeling relatively recently. This After Hours discussion will include a look at pre-Revival architecture, nearby tile manufacturers of the 1920s and 1930s, and the tile companies that restore and provide new designs to this day. The event will also feature a rotating display of historic tile from T.C. Prouty's local factory in Hermosa, 1926-1937. RSVP today to explore cultural history and tile design in the "New Old California"!
$10 RSVP Online. Food and refreshments provided, cash bar available.
