Patterning the Past: Decorating Tile in the Proutyline Style

Join us at the Hermosa Beach Museum for a festive look back at world-renowned decorative tile from Hermosa dating to the 1920s and 1930s, then create your own work of art! At this workshop, an exclusive look at beautiful tile samples from our collections and provided templates will inspire you to create your own masterpiece coaster or refrigerator magnet using a blank tile and art pens. Visitors will also have a chance to hear about T.C. Prouty’s Proutyline tile factory, which served as one of the earliest industries in Hermosa between 1922 and 1937. Ticket includes an RSVP and one 4"x4" tile; additional tiles will be available during the event if desired!

All ages are welcome any time between 6pm and 8pm; a brief presentation on the history of Proutyline Tile will begin at 6:15pm. We look forward to seeing you there!
