Spring Work Day - April 11

About This Event

Join us at Camp Iroquoina for a spring work day on April 11. The weekend will consist of the following:

Accommodations: Those coming up are welcomed to come the evening prior to get settled in and stay the night so we can hit the ground running in the morning. If doing so, please first email Andrew Chapman at maintenance@iroquoina.org.

Meals: Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Start Time: Breakfast will be served at 8:00am and work will begin at 9:00am.

Departure: The work day will conclude around 6:00pm.

Tasks Remaining (Not All Will Be Worked On During Each Work Day):

  • Lower Skill Projects (great for volunteers / first-timers)
    • Spring cleaning buildings (window washing, deep cleaning as required, linens organized and prepped)
    • Grass trimming throughout property
    • Chapel barn field cleared/mowed
    • Campfires cleaned up and prepped
    • Meadow debris cleaned (tires & wood)
    • Nature and rock trails cleaned/prepped
    • Gravel raked up from winter plowing through parking and driveways
    • Basic wood cleanup (moving branches, stacking loose wood)
    • Shop organized
    • Wood barn organized
    • Sea-cans organized (grey shop, soccer and rear blue)
    • Storage cabins organized (Crow, Navajo)
    • Trading Post cleaned and prepped
    • Volleyball court and Gaga pit sand prepped (turned and weeded)
  • Moderate Skill Projects (some experience helpful)
    • Fishing and archery prepped
    • Canoes inspected
    • Lifeguard equipment inspected
    • Cabins ‘summerized”
    • Basketball court lights finished and court cleaned
    • Holes and ruts filled in throughout
    • Brush cutting/hedge trimming throughout
    • Summer order list prepared for housekeeping inventory and trading post inventory
  • Higher Skill Projects (experienced volunteers or handy people)
    • Swimming hole prepped and ponds prepped
    • Swimming hole slide repaired
    • Cabins Sioux and Winnebago repaired and prepped for summer use
    • New shutters painted and installed on Seminole
    • Door hardware fixed on Tusky rear door
    • Bridge to council rock repaired
    • Driveways need re-graveled
    • Castle repairs. Any damaged or rotten boards replaced.
    • Tree stumps removed throughout property.
    • Longhouse drain repair. Under the floor from laundry sink
    • Advanced Wood cleanup (cutting, splitting/stacking, controlled burning with supervision)
