Antelope Creek Wet Meadow Project

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with High Country Conservation Advocates for the Antelope Creek Wet Meadow Restoration Project in partnership with the Upper Gunnison River Water Conservancy District, Bureau of Land Management and Bird Conservancy of the Rockies on Saturday, September 26 for National Public Lands Day.

This community stewardship project focuses on restoring critical wet meadows by building Bill Zeedyk rock structures that slow and spread the flow of water by minimizing erosion and raising the water table. Restoring these landscapes to their natural function supports wildlife habitat, water conservation, and an overall healthier watershed!

Volunteer workday details:

• Volunteers will meet at 9 AM on Saturday, September 26 at the project site up Ohio Creek (directions here).

• If you are traveling from Crested Butte, volunteers have the option to meet at the 4-way (directions here) at 8 AM to carpool to the project site.

• The volunteer workday will conclude around 3:30 PM.

• Lunch will be provided by our generous sponsor, the Dilly Deli in Gunnison.

• Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and bring bug spray, sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle. Project leaders will provide water for refills, and all necessary tools and equipment will be supplied.

• Please note: Pets are not permitted at this event.
