About Historic Houses Society Gala
Historic Houses Society Gala 2026
The Historic Houses Society (HHS) Gala is our annual celebration honoring the generous members whose support sustains the Hermann-Grima + Gallier Historic Houses. As a benefit of Historic Houses Society Membership, beginning at $1,000 annually, this special evening serves as our way of thanking those who help preserve New Orleans' architectural and cultural legacy.
This year's HHS Gala will take place on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at the remarkable Briggs-Staub House, an elegant residence built in 1849 by renowned architect James Gallier Sr., father of James Gallier Jr., architect of Gallier House. Today, this extraordinary historic home is the private residence of our gracious hosts, Louise and Craig Ripley, who have generously opened their home for this memorable evening.
We are honored and excited to recognize Harriet "Muffin" Balart as our Distinguished Honorary Chair for her many years of commitment to the mission of HGGHH and the preservation of New Orleans history! This years event is graciously chaired by Susan Clasen, Marian DeMeyers and Holt Kolb.
Together, we are preserving the places, stories, and architectural treasures that define our city's rich heritage, ensuring they continue to educate, inspire, and welcome future generations.
