In 1934, a little 4-inch loom was invented and manufactured in Winchester, Massachusetts. In one year, it became a popular creative activity to make baby blankets, clothing, household items and aphgans. On Tuesday, Octover 13, this program/workshop by Deborah Wolf and Meta Van Nostran will begin with a brief history of weaving during the early 20th century and how the Depression impacted the textile arts. Participants interested in learning this unique and simple weaving process can attend the workshop on October 20, and 27 to create at least one small quick project. All materials will be provided, and participants may want to select their own weaving yarns that will be discussed following the historical preservation. Register online to ensure we have enough looms for everyone. No experience is required. Thanks to the support of the Athens County Foundation, all classes are free to attend and supplies are provided!
