HMRI is pleased to partner with the Pasadena Public Library for a special One City, One Story presentation designed for scientific enthusiasts and the broader community alike. Rather than a technical lecture, the program is designed as an accessible community conversation, inviting curiosity, dialogue, and thoughtful exchange.
The panel will feature Dr. Rashid Alavi, J. G. Boswell Fellow at HMRI and Caltech and Dr. Andrew M. Vosko, Associate Professor of Biomedical and Health Systems Sciences at Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine, moderated by Paul Roach, Vice President of Development at HMRI.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Dr. Rashid Alavi is the James G. Boswell Postdoctoral Fellow at HMRI and Caltech. His research is focused on developing physics-based AI tools for noninvasive diagnosis of heart attack, heart failure, and stroke. He earned his PhD in Mechanical/Cardiovascular Engineering in 2023 and was a finalist for the 2023 Young Investigator Award from the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Andrew M. Vosko is Associate Professor of Biomedical and Health Systems Sciences at Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine. A neuroscientist trained at UCLA, he previously served as Associate Provost at Claremont Graduate University and focuses on transdisciplinary health education and systems science. The conversation will be moderated by Paul Roach, Vice President of Development at HMRI, guiding a thoughtful dialogue that connects scientific discovery to community impact. |
