On the occasion of Milano Chow: Fantasy Street and Deborah Turbeville: The Lifted Veil, Hollyhock House presents a screening of Robert Altman’s 3 Women at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre.

Selected by Milano Chow, this hypnotic film is set in a sun-bleached, eerily vacant California desert resort town. Sissy Spacek plays Pinky Rose, a wide-eyed Southern drifter who becomes fixated on her coworker Millie Lammoreaux (Shelley Duvall), a fellow nurse who fancies herself the height of modern sophistication. Once Millie invites Pinky to move in, admiration curdles into something far stranger and more sinister that neither woman saw coming.

Featuring brilliant performances from Spacek and Duvall, this dreamlike masterpiece from Robert Altman careens from the humorous to the chilling to the surreal, resulting in one of the most unusual and compelling films of the 1970s.
