About This Event

This event is in high demand! Register early as spaces are strictly limited.

What is JA BizTown?

They may not be old enough to drive or hold a job—but for one unforgettable day, your student can be the CEO of a company, a bank teller, a restaurant manager, or even a radio DJ.

JA BizTown is a unique learning experience for students in grades 4–6 that blends self-paced, online curriculum with a hands-on, day-long visit to a fully interactive simulated town. It’s where real-world concepts like financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship come to life.

Before visiting JA BizTown, students complete an engaging, homeschool-friendly curriculum covering topics like budgeting, banking, taxes, the role of government, and the basics of running a business. Along the way, they build critical skills in reading, writing, math, and social studies while learning the difference between wants and needs, how goods and services flow through an economy, and what it means to be a responsible citizen.

On simulation day, students step into roles as both consumers and business professionals. They'll receive paychecks, make purchases with debit cards, pay bills, and balance a checkbook. They'll also run businesses—making staffing decisions, managing expenses, and working together to turn a profit.

For homeschool families, the JA BizTown experience offers a unique, practical way to reinforce academic skills and introduce essential life lessons in a setting that’s both fun and meaningful. JA staff arrange the business teams and provide guidance throughout the day, so families can simply show up and enjoy the experience.

It’s not just pretend—it’s practice for real life.

Program Requirements

To complete the JA BizTown program, each student will need to complete the self-guided, online curriculum and attend the on-site simulation. The lessons should be completed prior to the March 4th simulation visit. The online curriculum materials for this program experience are included as a part of the enrollment fee. Access to all materials will be available within 2 business days after enrollment (anyone enrolling prior to August 2025 will receive curriculum in early August). Optional printed curriculum materials may be purchased on the registration page.
