When students are given a shot—a real chance at opportunity, enrichment, and connection—it can change the trajectory of their lives.
Pickle for a Purpose is more than a tournament. It's a movement to level the playing field. Your registration and sponsorship directly supports out-of-school academic and enrichment programs for students from under-resourced communities in San Diego, giving them the same kind of game-changing support that great pickleball demands: precision, strategy, and a whole lot of heart.

The open play format is your chance to hit the courts without the pressure of competition. Rotate in and out of casual games, meet fellow pickleball fans, and enjoy the spirit of community. Perfect for beginners, social players, and those who just want to play a few friendly matches.
- TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The tournament format is competitive and designed for players who want structured match play. You will be matched on skill level and complete in a round-robin format. Please review USA Pickleball's Player Skill Level Matrix to find the right level for you and register accordingly.- Advanced Beginner/Intermediate Bracket (Level 3.0 - 3.5)
- Advanced Intermediate/Advanced Bracket (Level 4.0+)
SPECTATOR REGISTRATION

Students growing up in low-income communities often face obstacles that make it harder to succeed in school and beyond. Many lack access to the academic support, enrichment experiences, and consistent mentorship that help young people discover their strengths and build confidence in their future.
Horizons San Diego exists to change that.
Horizons is a transformational, tuition-free program that helps students overcome opportunity gaps and realize their full potential. Through six weeks of summer learning and year-round support, students strengthen academic skills, explore new interests, and develop the confidence to take on new challenges. From swimming and arts to STEM and leadership development, Horizons provides experiences that help children see a bigger world—and their place in it.
What makes Horizons truly special is its long-term commitment. Students return year after year, building lasting relationships with teachers and peers who believe in them, encourage them, and help them envision a future filled with possibility.
The results are remarkable. Horizons students make significant gains in reading and math, return to school excited to learn, graduate from high school at higher rates, and pursue college and career pathways that once seemed out of reach.
Most importantly, Horizons helps children see themselves differently. Through Horizons, they are not defined by the circumstances they were born into, but by the possibilities that lie ahead.
