This milestone anniversary coincides with the 10th Annual Heart of the Matter Luncheon, a heartfelt event that honors the unsung heroes whose compassion and dedication help create a world where every child can grow up happy, healthy, and safe.

We will be hosting a powerful keynote speaker, Nathan Spiteri, an internationally renowned filmmaker, actor, author, and advocate for survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
Born in Canberra, Australia, Nathan has turned his personal experiences into a mission to foster resilience and drive societal change. As the author of Toy Cars, a raw and poignant memoir, and creator of The Childhood Trauma Recovery Workbook for Adults, Nathan provides practical tools and hope to survivors worldwide.
Through his TEDx talks and advocacy work, Nathan collaborates with organizations like the Children’s Liberation Foundation and the No More campaign to fight abuse and exploitation. His upcoming feature film and documentary continue to amplify his powerful message of healing and hope.
Nathan’s story of triumph over adversity serves as a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the transformative power of community.

Carousel is the only nationally accredited child advocacy center serving Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender Counties. Carousel serves children from birth up to age 18. All services are provided in a nurturing, child-friendly, and safe environment regardless of a family’s ability to self-pay.
