Before Los Alamos became famous as the birthplace of the atomic bomb, it was the site of a bucolic, prestigious boys prep school that focused on rigorous academics and the outdoor life. The school's founder, director, and staff connected to Santa Fe and surrounding pueblo communities through a wide web of relationships and activities.
