About This Event
Join us for Hungry for Hope, L’Arche Portland’s Spring Fundraiser, an afternoon of reflection, conversation, and community featuring special guest Sister Simone Campbell.
Sister Simone Campbell is a nationally recognized human rights attorney and advocate for economic justice, and the former Executive Director of NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice. Known for her leadership of the “Nuns on the Bus” movement, Sister Simone has spent decades working to ensure that every person is treated with dignity and has the opportunity to thrive. In recognition of her lifelong commitment to justice and human dignity, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor.
At L’Arche Portland, we believe that every person belongs. For nearly 40 years, people with and without intellectual disabilities have been sharing life together in our homes and community, building relationships rooted in mutual care, dignity, and belonging.
During this special gathering, Sister Simone will share reflections on hope, community, and the ways we can work together to build a more just and compassionate society. Together, we will celebrate this shared vision and raise essential funds to support our homes, programs, and the relationships that make our community possible.
In the spirit of solidarity and shared commitment to human dignity, L’Arche Portland will donate 10% of all Hungry for Hope event donations to the Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition (PIRC), supporting their work to protect and advocate for immigrant communities in our region.
We hope you will join us for this inspiring afternoon as we come together to nourish hope and strengthen a community where everyone belongs. A coffee and treat hour will follow the speaking program, offering time to connect with others and continue the conversation.
