Presented by HealthVisions Midwest of Fort Wayne

ReThinking Health Breakfast

About This Event

ReThinking Health is an annual advocacy event and fundraiser for HealthVisions Midwest of Fort Wayne. Insightful presentations and engagement will increase health equity awareness, stir discussion, and cultivate solutions for disparities in our community. This year’s fundraiser is extra special, marking 25 years since the agency was founded in Fort Wayne in 1998!

HealthVisions Midwest empowers and supports people to live healthier lives. We believe that all people—regardless of ethnicity, socioeconomic status, the language they speak, or the zip code where they live—should have a fair opportunity to achieve their best health. While obstacles stand in the way for many, this event is a step toward bringing the Fort Wayne community together on the issue of health equity. The event’s goals are to educate attendees and to establish a foundation for ongoing discussion and community solutions. To support this annual event is to support awareness and accountability for community leaders to address health equity in Fort Wayne. Funds raised will also support programs for underserved groups and health equity training initiatives.

The 2023 event is expected to attract nearly 250 community leaders, healthcare professionals, social advocates, and underserved residents.

Aside from 25th anniversary highlights, HealthVisions will also announce the winner of the organization’s Dignity Award. Winners are selected from a list of residents nominated by community leaders. The award recognizes a community champion for serving and enhancing the health of underserved residents in Fort Wayne.

Another highlight will be keynote speaker Anushay Hossain, a Washington, D.C.-based author and well-known commentator focusing on women’s health issues. She is a regular on-air guest at CNN, MSNBC, and PBS, and her writing on gender and race has been published in Forbes, CNN, USA TODAY, The Daily Beast, and Medium. Hossain is also the host of the Spilling Chai podcast and the author of the acclaimed book The Pain Gap: How Sexism and Racism in Healthcare Kill Women.
