Event Description
We Rise In Our Own Words is a collegiate anthology release and storytelling celebration led by participants in the Simply Youth Institute Workforce Development Program.
This anthology is the culmination of months of student-led work in storytelling, publishing, and community engagement — developed in direct support of the Sagacity campaign and created to carry Amiya’s light forward through voice, leadership, and self-celebration.
Featuring student writers from the University of Oregon and surrounding colleges and universities, the collection centers resilience as practice and storytelling as both a professional skill and a healing act.
Through selected readings and shared reflection, this gathering honors:
-
Student leadership within the SYI Workforce Development Program
-
The Sagacity commitment to confidence, decision-making, and voice
-
Amiya’s legacy and the continued impact of her words
-
Self-celebration as a pathway to resilience and growth
This is a space to witness what happens when young people are trusted with their stories and supported in bringing them into the world.
Students, faculty, staff, families, and community partners are warmly invited to attend.
What to Expect
-
Official release of the SYI collegiate anthology
-
Readings by contributing student authors
-

-

-
A welcoming, campus-centered gathering
